ARTIST’S STATEMENT VISIONS AND DREAMS is a portfolio of images based on recent travels in Europe and Asia. Each image in the portfolio is composed of multiple photographs that have been carefully edited and layered using specialized software. Although my work is based on photography I am not – nor do I pretend to be – a photographer. Rather, I’m a forager searching for bits and pieces of the physical world that speak to me. In that context, the camera is simply a tool that enables me to record visual material for further contemplation and artistic development. Alone in my studio, I study my collection, select various elements and weave them together to create images that have extended meaning. 

BRIEF BIOGRAPHY A native of Rochester, NY – and now a resident of Columbia, SC – my training includes an undergraduate degree in studio art and a Master of Fine Arts degree in printmaking and drawing. After receiving my MFA, I shifted my creative focus towards graphic design and took advantage of early developments in computer technology and software. I’ve worked in the advertising/commercial design industry for more than 20 years via my own company, Ginnie.com, Inc. The creation of complex montage images for both print- and web-based communications has long been my specialty. More recently I’ve returned to my fine art roots, concentrating on private imagery that takes advantage of my strong personal aesthetic and technical expertise. 

JURIED EXHIBITIONS During the past four years my work has been exhibited in more than 75 national and international juried exhibitions and received more than 60 awards. Venues include the PX3 Prix de la Photography, Paris, FR (9 awards); IPA/Lucie Awards, Los Angeles, USA (14 awards); The Worldwide Photography Gala Awards, York, UK (10 awards); International Color Awards Photography Masters Cup, London, UK (3 awards); London International Creative Competition, London, UK (2 awards); and Photographer’s Forum Annual Photography Contests, USA (4 awards). My images have been included in 11 photography annuals, various catalogues and magazines. This year I have had two solo shows, with 2 more scheduled in the spring of 2012.
